An Evening of Infinite Gratitude
On Tuesday, March 4, we had the honor of hosting our Donor Appreciation Event, a heartfelt evening dedicated to celebrating our incredible supporters, dedicated volunteers, and passionate team members. It was more than just a gathering—it was a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish when a community comes together with compassion and purpose.
At Cancer Support VI, we are constantly reminded that our mission is only possible because of the generosity and kindness of our community. The unwavering support enables us to provide essential programs, resources, and comfort to individuals and families navigating cancer. Whether through financial contributions, volunteer efforts, or advocacy, every action helps us strengthen our community and extend our reach.
We extend a heartfelt thank you to Cutlass & Cane for providing such a beautiful location and outstanding service. Our gratitude also goes to Bellows West Indies and Leatherback Brewing Co. for their generous donation of beverages, as well as to the volunteers who assisted throughout the evening. We were also honored to have Pastor Eddie Arrindell of Emmanuel Baptist Church in St. Thomas lead a heartfelt moment of prayer, recognizing the abundance of community support and the strength found in unity.
Our Donor Appreciation Event was more than just a gathering—it was a celebration of hope, resilience, and the power of coming together for a cause that truly matters. From heartfelt conversations to shared stories of perseverance, the evening was a testament to the profound impact that collective generosity can have.
Director of Cancer Support VI, Barb Michaud, shared inspiring remarks about how this very event in 2024 sparked a movement that helped raise over $1.1 million, allowing us to provide more than 333 grants totaling over $960,000. This journey has been one of building community and rising to the challenge, and we are honored to continue this work.
We were humbled to welcome 25 grant recipients, allowing donors to meet the individuals whose lives they have touched. Witnessing this connection in person was a moving and powerful reminder of why we do what we do. Throughout 2024, we engaged with so many in our community—visiting Veterans Groups, PTAs, support groups, and more—to extend our reach and ensure that no one navigates cancer alone.
Additionally, we want to extend our gratitude to Governor Albert Bryan Jr. for his support and encouragement. We are also deeply thankful to CFVI for their partnership and for being part of our journey toward becoming an independent 501(c)(3) organization.
As we celebrate our 20th year in 2025, we are committed to enhancing what we have built and continuing to find innovative ways to serve our community. Every year, we push ourselves to grow, and 2025 will be no different.
As we close this chapter of gratitude, we invite the community to stay engaged, spread the word, and continue making a difference with us. Together, we have given nearly $1 million in grants—no other organization does what we do, and we remain the #1 resource for cancer support in our community. Our community’s generosity fuels our mission, and we are excited for the year ahead.
