As we begin this new decade, let us take a moment to reflect and celebrate 2019! It has been a year of transformation for Cancer Support VI. We have honored our legacy by refreshing our brand and launched new initiatives to increase awareness and engage the community. Our new and established Pinktober and Movember events were welcomed with strong participation, elevating the opportunity for CSVI to continue to raise much needed funds for those in the USVI impacted by cancer.
Thanks to community and donor support, this year CSVI has been able to assist 222 USVI cancer patients with grants totalling over $205,000 provided through Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands. Throughout the year we raised over $350,000 via events, initiatives and generous donors like you! We begin 2020 filled with gratitude, inspiration and vision, as we stand committed to our mission of enhancing patient advocacy, education and financial assistance for all Virgin Islanders.
2019 Highlights
Fundraising Events & Initiatives
It has been quite an eventful year! Hats off to our many community business partners who helped host the Pinktober and Movember events and initiatives.
We kicked off Pinktober with Fête at the Fort, an amazing evening in the historic Fort Christian, raising over $8,000. This was followed by a Pink Friday Pub Crawl by First Fridays where participants dressed for the occasion and bar hopped around Downtown Charlotte Amalie. We then collaborated with The Tropical Treasure Hunt Co. and another non-profit, Patient Assist VI, and had teams Hunt for a Cure in an island wide treasure hunt around St.Thomas. Throughout the month, we made sure to Give Cancer the Boot by collecting dollars in pink rain boots at schools, businesses and more. Many stores and restaurants in Downtown Charlotte Amalie also supported the cause and helped us Paint the Town Pink by donating and running product promotions. Other local businesses championed their own Pinktober Independent Campaigns, using their creativity to raise funds for cancer patients. Their efforts raised $28,000! The month concluded with an evening under the stars at Old Stone Farmhouse, for our crowd favorite Drink Pink wine event, featuring renowned winery, Revana Wines.
In November we partnered with the St.Thomas Yacht Club to host the first annual Movember // Knots for Nuts, an opportunity to raise funds and bring awareness to men’s health. This weekend of fun events included tennis, squash and sailing competitions that raised over $20,000.
Join us in 2020, as we launch “ALL CANCERS MATTER”, Love is an Island campaign. We look forward to collaborating with you as we celebrate, honor and support those in our communities impacted by cancer.
